Descriptions of aggregates throughout the United States is not consistent, varying most from region to region, sometimes even within a specific region and organizations. The term that tends to cause the most confusion amongst consumers and producers alike is “Rock” and “Gravel”
ROCK
is a term used to describe products that have had almost all if not all of the sand and clay removed leaving a mixture of various sizes of rock in a stock pile.
GRAVEL
is a term used to describe various products that contain a mixture of rock, sand and clay.
Crushed Gravel vs Washed Screened Gravel
Crushed Gravel is angular and contains a variety of sized material. This material is used in substrates for driveways, construction slabs, and roadways. This material typically comes in two sizes 1 1/4″ and 5/8″ minus both meeting ASTM C-33 gradations. We also have the ability to provide a crushed gravel with no minus material please inquire with any questions.
Washed Screened Gravel consist of a variety of sized materials as well. We offer a 1 1/2″ drain rock for bedding of drain fields and landscaping dressing, we have a 3/4″ minus washed aggregate for our concrete aggregate along with a 3/8″ minus washed pea gravel as well. To add to the washed aggregates we also have washed sand all our washed products meet the ASTM C-33 gradations.”

5/8 Minus Crushed:

3/8 Pea Gravel:

Drainage rock used for most applications in construction.
1 1/2 ” Round:
Large round rock used for drainage work, and also for decorative rock around ponds.
Concrete Blend:
Concrete Blend is the sand and gravel blend used for mixing with cement to make an all purpose concrete mix for fence posts, walkways and any other do-it-yourself home project.
Red Cinder Rock:
Red Cinder Rock is a 1/2 to 1 inch red volcanic pumice stone used for decorative contrast in the landscape.
Ground Cover Bark:
Bark 3/8 to 7/8 inch in size and is void of any fines. Ground Cover has a mini nugget appearance and is popular for applications requiring a smooth and even appearance.
Medium Nugget Bark:
Sometimes referred to as chunk bark, is ground and screened to a 1 to 2 inch specification. This product has an even textured chunky appearance and is void of all fine particles and sticks. Medium Nugget Bark holds up to harsh weather conditions and provides long-lasting results.
